Scattered showers and thunderstorms will affect the Keys...as well as the nearshore and offshore waters surrounding the island chain. These showers and storms will move to the west at around 20 knots. The strongest storms will produce wind gusts near 30 knots...dangerous cloud to surface lightning strikes...and very heavy rain...temporarily reducing the visibility to near one mile. Over land...the most likely area to see rainfall will be from boca chica to Big Pine Key. The majority of showers and storms will be located over the offshore waters south of the area from Key West to the Dry Tortugas. These showers and storms should decrease in intensity and areal coverage through 930 AM.
