Hi, I am a single handed female sailor sailing my own boat - a 26ft catamaran and am on route from England to hopefully get to Australia - I am currently in Spain - on my boat and am wondering on the eventual best route to get me and my boat safely to Australia.
I believe that the Red Sea would be a mite dangerous for me - friends of mine were machine gunned travelling via the Red Sea even though they were travelling in a convey of a few vessels.
The Panama Canal - have the rules changed about the minimum speed requirements? My boat has a 9.9 hp outboard and cannot go faster than 5 knots - I am also worried about taking on strange boat handlers!
Africa - trouble and strife all along the coast or am I wrong?
Can anyone help with advice? Male or Female! Are there any other single handed female sailors out there? I would love to hear from you especially if you are cruising like me.

This morning I rowed into work! I raced my business partner from our respective boats, which are anchored in Northern Spain, and rowed past jumping fish to a safe place to tie up my dinghy! The race ended up being a tie! Our office is a Wifi Cafe overlooking a sandy beach and a marina. We order a Cafe con leche grande and start our work on our websites on the internet! This is a typical start to my day but quite often I have to include lifting up my lobster pot in the morning to check and see if I have caught anything overnight! At the moment my lobster pot is in for repairs (in my cockpit that is!) because a Conger Eel broke out of it and made a big hole!I still managed to catch an octopus in it the other day tho' but that's another story!
